Here is a few prompts I use on the regular to check in with myself.

After each one I do recommend a brain dump or free writing with whatever comes up. Don't censor yourself, that's 100% not the objective here. Let the inner you out onto the paper.

1. List 3 things that bring me joy. Joy is hard for some of us. I struggled with this one at first but essentially things that make you smile for no reason other than they are. Things that when you do them you lose track of time. Don't over think it, coffee is a regular when I do this.

-How can I incorporate more of those things into my daily life?

2. 3 things I desire for my life. Again the word desire can be a stumbler. Dream here, if anything were possible, no limits, restrictions, obligations. You get the picture. Again, don't overthink it, you don't even have to understand it completely. For example, to be happy, but you don't quite know what that is yet. It also can be simple, like for all my moms out there, to feel like ourselves again. Lofty works good too. One of mine is to make a lot more money than I know what to do with.

- Follow up with is there any simple thing I can do to take a tiny step towards making any of those a reality. Or a big step if you feel so called.

3. 3 people you need to forgive. I must have been in a list mood when I thought these up. Oh this seems pretty easy, but you may also and probably do need your own forgiveness, so don't forget to consider that.

- You can certainly delve into why here, but I don't always find that necessary, I try this first and if things feel resolved, gladly let it go. If it doesn't feel resolved, even a little, then I write it out in depth and try to see ways to help me let it go.

Repeat while focusing on each name

I release, I forgive

I release, I am at peace

I release, I am free

Then check in with how you feel and go from there. Forgiveness gets easier as you practice it. It releases us from that feeling. We have everything to gain from it. Keep that in mind.

4. 3 people I admire. Why? Can you learn and/or incorporate something into your life from that? Do you want to? Celebs, sisters, mothers, brothers, anyone goes, again all of this is about no limits or restrictions.

5. 3 things I've been wanting to do or try. Do it. At least one, or schedule it, take a step towards it. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in the moment................how do you feel?

6. 3 memories I cherish. Write these out, revel in them with as much detail as you can, take your time and bring yourself back to those precious wondrous moments.

7. 3 times I was proud of myself. This is another one that can be hard. I am super hard on myself, so I used to not think in those terms. I wasn't proud of myself, there was always something I could do better. F that. One of the many things I have gotten from raising Rory is an appreciation for all the things. As our kids grow, we are proud of them, like deep in our soul proud of them for EVERY LITTLE THING, we need to practice extending that to ourselves. Doesn't have to be a big, life changing moment, it can be I didn't lose my cool when my kid was being an a-hole. Most nights as I put Rors to bed I tell him I'm proud of him, he always asks why, and I tell him all the things, the ones that makes sense easily and then some things like when he got kicked out of karate, we talked out the why, and he realized it was his fault from his behavior. Sore subject but a huge moment of growth.

He tends to tell me he is proud of me too, but I have to come up with the why's, it has definitely been a great practice for me.

Ok, so now, you found some things you are proud of. Make a point to add to the list today. Do something, anything, big or small to make yourself proud.

This is a start, I am sure I will be back with more, especially since I was on a kick with the number 3 here. Next up will be working with affirmations in your journaling.

As always, please comment and let me know your thoughts, that you read this, I love connecting with you and sharing in your journey as you share with mine!
